Our story
The Himalayan Art Gallery is located at the heart of the Kathmandu in Durbar Marg. It was founded in 1988 by Mingma Ukyab Lama. Having been in the business for the last three decade, his passion for Himalayan antiquities specially, in Tibetan antiques has led him to journey to Tibet to explore, collect and preserve antiques since he was very young.

Over the years the business has successfully established and expanded to Lhasa, Tibet as well. Today, the gallery offers a rare and fine collection in Tibetan antiquities and has one of the largest Tibetan antique furniture collection. The gallery continues to provide many art collectors all around the world an authentic experience. The Himalayan Art Gallery is dedicated to the promotion of good quality, original and natural Tibetan antiques by collecting and showcasing uniquely crafted carpets and items of furniture.
The gallery also hopes to grow more towards research and preservation in the future. Encouraging young scholars to have access to Himalayan art and antiquities. Especially, wanting to focus on creating a space for the Himalayan youth and scholars to be able reconnect with their heritage, while also hoping to encourage more views, perspectives in terms of knowledge production in Himalayan art and antiquities.
